MRI
MRI and full
body scans use magnets to view deep into the tissues of the body, thereby
locating tumors and abnormalities. The report is analyzed from images
that reveal portions of the body layer by layer. It is not recomended
if the patient has metal in their body as the magnets will attract these
metals. Dental fillings and bone pins are not an issue because they can't
move. MRI's are not considered an acceptable breast screening tool by
the medical field mostly because it is cost prohibitive at about $650
per session with the average mammogram at about $210. It could be considered
as a back up to a suspicious annual screening.
